In some cases, the digital representation of an object can be better than the original analog object. We see this in everyday life with photo editing. Whether it involves minor tweaks to remove blemishes or removing people from the background of a photo, people often prefer the digital option due to the ability to manipulate the noise and adjust it to fit their preferences. In general, digital tends to be viewed as superior, as it feels like innovation and progress have surpassed the past. As some would say, “out with the old and in with the new.” A key example discussed in a previous post is the progression of the telegraph and TVs. In these examples, we see the ability to reduce noise and isolate the target signal as desired.
